This just in: Ammi sent me a link to a cool little game that is a follow-up to the Yeti/Penguin game I posted earlier. This one is Orca Slap and is very cool, although a little harder than the previous one. Fun fun fun!
I just got back from 2 days at a SPIE conference in Santa Clara, CA which was a lot of fun. Somehow conferences are always exhausting, although this one was very educational. I even got to have dinner with Val in Mountain View at an excellent Malaysian place (The Spice Islands Cafe, 210 Hope St.). The food was amazing, I have to go back there again to try some other dishes! Makes me hungry thinking about it again, yummy.
I've been playing this fun and addictive little penguin game lately which is rather entertaining. Can you beat my high score of 315.7?

I just got back from San Diego for the weekend, it was good to hang out with some friends down there I haven't seen in awhile! I didn't get to see everybody, hopefully next time I'll see more people since I'll be easy to contact at my mobile phone! Hopefully Sadahiro & Andrew will send me some pictures from the weekend, I didn't take any seeing as my only digital camera is huge, a battery hog and doesn't focus well. Eventually I'll get a decent one.. I hope.
Wow, the weather in San Diego is grrreat. I miss it, especially this season in Portland when it's really rainy and overcast constantly. Yesterday we played Ultimate in the pouring rain in a muddy field, it was fun except that I could barely see to catch the frisbee through my rain covered glasses. I had one great catch, or what would have been a great catch except that my hands and the frisbee were wet and it slipped right through a good grip! Doh.
Debbie just gave me a new cellphone! Woo hoo! After my last experience with AT&T I was thinking of holding out for awhile before getting another, I made it a whole month. The new one is from T-Mobile, I'll report back in awhile how it's going. Interesting thing, the phone doesn't incur roaming charges because it doesn't allow calls outside T-Mobile service. Good option. I have an ancient base-station type phone in the car I got for $5 that will probably work with a credit card in emergencies.
It's a tiny phone, very light and thin. I'm excited to be mobile again! Give me a call (at home) and I'll give you the number - I don't really want to post it online just yet.

Debbie threw a great birthday party for me, you know, on my birthday awhile ago! We watched The Holy Grail on a projector ("And what else floats in water? "A duck" "That's right! Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?"), had a keg (of course!) and had some great cakes created in the image of Homestarrunner and Strongbad from homestarrunner.com! Debbie rocks, you know? It was a good day.
Wow things have been too busy for me to post anything in the blog lately. I thought of something interesting to post the other day, but then forgot. My shinsplints are coming back again from a combination of ultimate frisbee and indoor soccer.. so I'm having to take a little time off the games occasionally. That's unfortunate, it's so much fun!
Deb and I have started a new "diet", after looking around in Powells for something that looks like we wanted to follow we decided to write our own! So far so good, although I don't plan on stepping on the scale for awhile because it usually takes awhile to kick in.
I've been listening to a good bit of Radio Paradise at work lately which is a great internet radio station. I often pick up new music on there that I like, lately I found out about the alpinestars who are pretty cool trip-pop-ish type music. I've also been listening to some old Michael Jackson music, which Debbie is incredibly offended by. Strange how I hated it for many years but suddenly like it again. (Hmm maybe I shouldn't have posted that..).
I've been playing Ultimate frisbee with some co-workers at lunch lately. (Ultimate is a lot like soccer with a frisbee.) It's a great game, although our field tends to be very muddy most of the time so we tend to get pretty messy! I'm new to the game but learning fast, I thought I'd post a couple good resources that I found. www.ultimatehandbook.com has some good information, and this pdf document my co-worker sent me is really good for explaining the game for beginners! I've been mixing indoor soccer with ultimate, my shins are taking a beating right now. Hopefully after I do this for a few weeks in a row it won't hurt so much!
| One of my good friends here in Portland just started a site dedicated to helping people choose an mp3 player out of the thousands of different ones out there. The forum was created to create a single place online to discuss the features, sizes, and weights of different players to allow for comparison of all the players. Take a look at playerblog.com! | |
| Personally, I've got an Apacer BP300 that cost $88 and I really like. | ![]() |
Watch out for AT&T wireless, I just had a very bad experience with their customer support. I'll spare you the details but suffice to say I've never had such bad service from an insurance company (and that's saying something!). I've talked to others who said it was fine, but I found the service consistently incompetent at best, and rude at worst. As a result, I no longer have a cell phone. My apologies for those I gave my number to. Maybe someday I'll recover from the experience and brave the cellphone waters again.
I just moved the wedding website from the main www link so this blog could be the main site. Look here for some wedding pictures.
