Optical Illusions...
Perhaps it is all those computer vision classes I took, but the
"artifacts" of the human perception system are fascinating to me. I
just found a really great site
with lots of optical illusions if you get curious.
Lightning, Sunset, and a Rainbow
A thunderstorm hit Portland the other day and brought some
interesting conditions with it. There was this strange yellow light
everywhere and a lot of wind, although there wasn't much rain.
There was a nice sunset, a rainbow, and lightning all viewable
from our roof... check out the video below!

House Inspection!
The house inspections went very well, the house our offer is accepted
for is in very good condition and the arrangements are proceeding
well. There were only some minor things that we decided to ask for,
some gutter work and the replacment of a board in the basement.
Overall things are in really greatshape, we think that there has only
been a couple generations of one family that lived in it since it was
built in 1930.
I'll post a bunch of photos from the inspection so you can take a look
too! Here are a couple of pictures as a teaser (the front yard, the
living/dining room, and the breakfast nook) on this post but you can
see all the photos here.
We're really excited about the new place, but before we close the deal
we embark on a 2wk trip to Ireland!

Our offer for a house was accepted!
Our house search has been fruitful! If all the inspections and other
technicalities go smoothly, we will be the proud owners of the house
we put an offer on this Saturday. We're both very excited about it,
everything seems to be in very good condition - especially the
hardwood floors, which look great and even have some inlay work near
the fireplace. Let's hope everything checks out well - we both like
the house and the location quite a bit.
