August 2005 Archives

I pretty much use google for everything these days, but this site has a very
nice list of internet sites that can help you find things online: http://www.philb.com/whichengine.htm

The wallpaper is coming off, but it's a tremendous amount of work. Sorry we
still haven't got the Ireland pictures up yet, we've been too exhausted from
the wallpaper!

Demo Beer

I started the first batch of beer in the new house with Gary & Matt's help this
weekend on Saturday! It's the 3rd Kolsch I've made while trying to recreate
the first batch which turned out so well. So far it looks good, bubbling along
at 72 degrees. It's so nice to have company/help when brewing, it's a
different experience altogether. It was fun to share some of what I've
learned in my 6 months of experience homebrewing.

The basement in this house seems a little warmer than the old house, it's
only a little damp and should work well for ales. I'll have to be more
creative if I want to do lagers.. but there's plenty of time to experiment.

Bridepedal 2005

The annual Bridgepedal was fun, we rode with Cathy who stayed with us this weekend and Jackie this year.. wearing snippets of Debbie's caution tape collection! We had quite the variety of tape blowing in the wind attached to our bikes & helmets, lots of fellow Portlanders riding seemed amused with the spectacle.

The ride was longer this year, 10 bridges and 35 miles... by the time we biked to & from home it was 43.5 miles! This is the farthest I've ridden, although we did go slow and have some crowds along the way. Apparently they weren't prepared for as many people as showed up this time around, we had to walk en masse across a couple bridges.

Here's a few teaser photos, there are more photos posted here:

We're in process of unpacking in the new house, and I promised Becca
some pictures. It's still a mess.. but here ya go, but I promise
things will look better after we've had a chance to "really" unpack.
For now we're still trying to figure out where to put things...
