Decline of Science in the US

I read an interesting article over on the BBC about the role of
science and engineering in the US in recent history, it is a little
worrysome but an interesting and well thought out article.

The wallpaper is gone!

After a labor-intensive labor-day weekend the wallpaper is gone! I
haven't had time to take a picture but the walls are rustic looking -
like an old villa. Deb's picking out the colors, but there is some
serious patching work to be done on the plaster - cracks and divots
everywhere. In any case the house feels different - the rooms are
brighter and actually looks better than the funky old wallpaper. We're
excited (and sore) to be working on our own house now!
