Visit to San Diego for the weekend
We just got back from a nice warm trip to San Diego for Sadahiro's wedding, which was great fun! We got to visit with pretty much all my grad-school buddies as well as see a Buddhist ceremony. We also visited with Debbie's Uncle Joe and Diana and their kids, which was really fun also. Somehow we also managed to visit 3 breweries in the process: Green Flash, Karl Strauss, and Steelhead. We just missed Alesmith since they closed early and we hit traffic. Green Flash Brewing was my favorite (who also makes Reaper Ale), they have a small operation with excellent beers, we met a very friendly electrician who was sipping along with us. They were actively brewing while we were there, in the picture you can see the assistant brewer inside the mash-tun cleaning out the grain - hot work!

Upstate NY Trip
We had a great trip to Upstate NY a few weeks ago!
We got to see our nephew for the first time, take a hike on a new property that the Albany County Land Conservancy is working on, visiting the finger lake region and several nice wineries there, going to the amazing New York Wine & Culinary Center, taking a beautiful hike in Watkins Glen State Park (wow, that's a lot of waterfalls), and even fit in a quick brewery tour (Ommegang) before we had to come back to the real world.
We even brought Charlie along on the trip, he had fun visiting the "country" although he didn't like being outside in the cold. Mostly he loved sitting on Dan and Maureen's comfy couch, I think.
